Our Story

Like a lot of stories, ours begins with a road trip.  Not a single road trip, but a series of daily trips that took place over the course of many years as I commuted to, and from, work in Houston rush-hour traffic.  A fourteen mile, round-trip, commute on Houston’s Westheimer Road AKA “FM 1093” (more on that below) can easily gobble up an hour of your day.  Over the years, those 60 minute commutes added up to a whole lot of windshield time!  Time mostly spent planning, scheming and dreaming.

I love cooking.  Indoor cooking, outdoor grilling, smoking, boiling and frying, I enjoy it all.  I also have a thing for experimenting and creating.  I’m a DIYer who has always been attracted to the idea of creating something that could enhance, not only my life, but other’s lives as well.  Products that would be a reflection of the things I’m most passionate about:  The Four F’s (family, friends, food, fun)  Things we all enjoy.  The common threads that unite us all.  Out of this desire, and countless daydreams, Post Oak Provisions was born.

Settling on the name was a step in the right direction, but what good would a name be without a product?! Then 2020 happened and life took some unexpected turns.  Like so many others, I found myself at home with a lot of free time.  More time to plan, scheme and dream.  Then one morning, inspiration struck.  I suddenly knew what the first offering would be.  An all-purpose seasoning.  I immediately loaded up on bulk spices, bought a good set of food scales and went into “mad scientist” mode.  After much trial and error I finally emerged from the kitchen laboratory with a seasoning blend worthy of the Four F’s.  I guess Benjamin Franklin was right when he said “Out of adversity comes opportunity”.

We have more products in the works, so stay tuned!

Thanks! - Patrick

**Where does the name FM 1093 come from?  Beginning in the Great Depression, the State of  Texas began constructing paved roads to give farmers and ranchers in rural areas easier access to markets where they needed to travel to sell their products.  FM = Farm to Market.

One such road is FM 1093.  Spanning 50 miles through several counties, FM 1093 eventually runs right through the heart of Houston.  At times urban and sophisticated, at other times rural and down-home.  Just like its namesake, we believe this seasoning is the perfect embodiment of Texas and the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
